The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to launch in October. This top-tier chipset will be used in upcoming Android flagship phones, including the Xiaomi 15 series. It has already been spotted on Geekbench, so let’s dive into its scores and performance.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset showed up on Geekbench labeled as “Manufacturer Model”. In the benchmark results, it scored 8,840 points in the multi-core test and 2,884 points in the single-core test. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which had a single-core score of 2,193 and a multi-core score of 7,304, the new chipset shows a 32% improvement in single-core performance and a 21% improvement in multi-core performance.
When compared to Apple’s A17 Pro chipset, which scored 2,953 in the single-core test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is nearly equal. However, in the multi-core test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 outperformed Apple’s A17 Pro, which scored 7,441, by 19%.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will be built on a new 3nm process. Qualcomm is using its self-developed Nuvia CPU architecture, featuring a configuration of 2 cores at 4.09GHz and 6 cores at 2.78GHz. The GPU included is the Adreno 830.
