Even though Apple hasn’t launched the iPhone 16 series yet, expected next month, rumours about the iPhone 17 series are already surfacing. According to Apple analyst Jeff Pu, the latest buzz is that all iPhone 17 models will feature a 24MP selfie camera.
Pu shared a chart in a research note for investment bank Haitong, indicating that all iPhone 17 models will have a 24MP selfie camera with six plastic lens elements. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also confirmed that at least one iPhone 17 model will feature this rumoured setup. Currently, the iPhone 15 series phones have a 12MP selfie camera with five plastic lens elements.
Since this selfie camera upgrade has been rumoured by multiple sources, it is more likely to happen. Kuo mentioned that these changes will significantly improve image quality. With a higher resolution, photos can maintain quality even when cropped to a greater degree. The six lenses will also enhance image quality, as each element is designed to correct for various aberrations and distortions.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch next September, so many more rumors are likely to surface before then.
